About the station

The program includes advice and consumer topics as well as current information, mainly from Hesse. In addition, HR4 Radio offers a “Listener Hour” twice a week, during which experts answer listener questions on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Saturday afternoons, the program features a leisure magazine called Hallo Hygen. Every Saturday, the “HR4-Tanzparty” begins from 5 PM to midnight, where the proportion of Schlager music is higher than that of international hits, often only 2–4 international hits. Additionally, listeners can vote between folk music or current Schlager. In the show “Matinee,” HR4 Radio focuses on sophisticated entertainment music such as operetta melodies, waltzes, artfully performed songs, and musicals. From Monday to Friday, the show “Wünsch dir was” airs, playing predominantly German-language titles like Schlager, with a very low proportion of international hits. At most 5 international hits, but sometimes none at all. The proportion of international hits in the show “Wünsch dir was” ranges from 0–5 songs. “Wünsch dir was” airs every day except Saturdays from 1 PM to 2 PM and on Sundays from 1 PM to 2 PM. Additionally, every Sunday from 5 PM to 8 PM, the new hit parade is broadcast. Every evening from 8 PM to midnight, except Saturday evenings, “Musik liegt in der Luft” begins.
