About the station
The three federal states unite a globally unique musical landscape that remains unparalleled to this day. Over the centuries, it has been shaped by numerous famous composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Richard Wagner, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, and Kurt Weill. Through the ensembles of MDR KLASSIK, this rich tradition is preserved and carried forward in a repertoire that also includes the latest music and cross-genre experiments. The most recent example of this is the music for the film Cloud Atlas, which was released in 2012.
