Metalcore (Metallic Hardcore) developed from hardcore punk and extreme metal. While the origins of hardcore are rooted in the punk movement, the musical origins of metalcore are more closely tied to metal. Even today, the influence of both styles is clearly recognizable. Metalcore typically combines hard and aggressive verses with melodic choruses, clean vocals, and heavy breakdowns.
