Death Metal is one of the most extreme forms of metal and originated in the mid-1980s in the USA. Pioneers like Death or Morbid Angel established the genre back then and quickly gained influence. Over time, more and more bands emerged, many of which became increasingly technically skilled – known as Technical Death Metal.
